As a ASU Future of War Fellow, Matthew Pinsker is writing a biography of Abraham Lincoln, focusing on his record as a political party leader. Boss Lincoln, forthcoming from W.W. Norton & Co., offers new insights about the history of American partisanship through the biography of its greatest practitioner. Currently, Pinsker is a visiting research professor at the Strategic Studies Institute of the U.S. Army War College, where he is working on presidential war powers and an online course about U.S. civil-military relations. He holds the Brian Pohanka Chair of Civil War History at Dickinson and serves as director of the House Divided Project. He is the author of two books, including Lincoln's Sanctuary: Abraham Lincoln and the Soldiers’ Home. He is a graduate of Harvard College and has a PhD in modern history from the University of Oxford.
