Terri Friedline earned her PhD and MSW from the University of Pittsburgh's School of Social Work. She will join the University of Kansas' School of Social Welfare as an Assistant Professor in the summer of 2012. Ms. Friedline's research focuses on interventions and related theories for improving young people's educational and financial well-being, particularly for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Her current research examines these relationships by employing advanced quantitative methods with longitudinal, secondary data. In this capacity, Ms. Friedline has consulted with the U.S. Department of Education on its national GEAR UP initiative that aims to improve educational outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
