Please join the New America Foundation for an invite-only, on-the-record roundtable with the the former Foreign Secretary of India, Amb. Shyam Saran. Amb. Saran and New America President Steve Coll will discuss India’s perspective on current events in South Asia and its vision for the future.

Shyam Saran has had a distinguished diplomatic career, spanning 34 years. He served as Foreign Secretary from 2004-2006 during which time he helped negotiate the path-breaking U.S.-India Nuclear Agreement and then was appointed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as his Special Envoy for Indo-US civil nuclear issues. He also served as Prime Minister Singh’s Chief Negotiator on Climate Change. Saran is currently a member of the Indian National Security Council’s National Security Advisory Board, as well as Chairman of Research and Information System for Developing Countries. He is also Senior Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research.
