Robert Morgus is a research associate at the Open Technology Institute where he provides research and writing support on cyber space and international affairs. His work focuses on swing states in the Internet governance debate, Internet freedom in the context of U.S. export controls, technical sovereignty, and cybersecurity.

Before joining the New America, Robert provided research assistance for a variety of ventures ranging from sustainable development firms to small progressive political action committees. Robert received his B.A. with honors in diplomacy and world affairs from Occidental College in Los Angeles in 2013. While at Occidental, he was the recipient of the Young Fund Student Grant to conduct research on ethno-nationalism in the Balkans, and his thesis "Economic Shocks and Violent Unrest: Conditions and Transmission Channels" was one of six honored by the college.
