As an ASU Future of War Fellow, Shane Harris is writing a book on cyber warfare, @War: The Rise of the Military-Internet Complex, to be published on November 11, 2014 by Eamon Dolan Books, a division of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. He is currently a senior writer at Foreign Policy magazine, where he covers national security, intelligence, and cyber security. He is the author of The Watchers: The Rise of America's Surveillance, which won the New York Public Library's Helen Bernstein Book Award for Excellence in Journalism. Previously, he was a senior writer at The Washingtonian, where he had a national security blog called “Dead Drop," a technology editor and staff writer at Government Executive, and an intelligence and homeland security correspondent at the National Journal. He is the recipient of the 2010 Gerald R. Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting on National Defense. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University.
